Program Description

Description

On October 15, 1900, a Native American village at Burt Lake in Brutus, Michigan, was tragically razed to the ground, displacing families and stripping them of their ancestral lands and treaty rights.

The book "A Cloud Over the Land" chronicles the events leading to this fateful day, detailing a series of actions that left the village in ruins. Join us at Hoyt Library for a presentation by Burt Lake Band Historian and Author Deborah Richmond as she discusses this untold history, a narrative that is truly a significant Michigan tale.
