Placing Holds

You can request up to 30 items at once by phone, in-person, or online at saginawlibrary.org.

Place a hold on an item if:

  • an item is not currently available at your preferred branch
  • an item hasn’t been released yet
  • you would like us to pull an available item for easier pickup

The first available copy will be sent to your branch and you will be notified. The item will be held for 10 days.

If an item isn’t available in our catalog, holds can also be placed through Michigan eLibrary (MeL), which grants you access to materials from across the state. MeL holds can be placed at MeL.org or through a staff member.

Checking Your Account

To log into your account, head to our website and click LOG IN/MY LIBRARY at the top. Enter your 14-digit library card barcode number and your password (PIN) and click Log In.

The first time you log in, you will be asked to confirm your information and choose a username. In the future, you will be able to use either your barcode number or username to log in. You can then review your checkouts, see what you have on hold, renew your material and more.

Can't remember your PIN? Your default number is the last four digits of the phone number you gave us when you registered. If you wish, you may change your PIN in the settings of your online account.

Any resident of the city of Saginaw, Saginaw Township, Kochville Township, Carrollton, Zilwaukee, Buena Vista, James Township and Tittabawassee Township are eligible for a free card. Minors must have a legal guardian present when signing up for a new card and must be able to write their name.

We also offer cards to many other associated areas - feel free to ask if your city or township is eligible for a free card! Anyone else can get a card to check out items from our libraries for an annual fee of $50, which does not include access to our digital resources.

What if I lose my card?

Let us know as soon as you realize that it’s missing so that we can prevent it from being used fraudulently. If you need a replacement card, it’s $1 at any branch.

What is my PIN number?

Your default library account PIN is the last four digits of the phone number you gave us when you registered.

If I forget my library card, can I still check out materials?
