The Board of Trustees of the Public Libraries of Saginaw (MI), an independent urban district library with excellent community support, is seeking a new director to move the system forward with innovative service models and programs. The Library serves a culturally diverse population of over 120,000 with a main library and three branches and a budget of approximately $4 million.
Proven skills in community outreach, restructuring library services, managing and motivating staff, innovating, and financial acuity are paramount. A shrinking tax base will require the director to be flexible and visionary in providing needed services for the future.
Qualifications: ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science and a preferred 8 years experience in a public library in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Salary: Starting salary negotiable DOQ within range of $75,000 – $80,000 with an excellent benefit package. Click here for the complete position description.

Duties and responsibilities: Main duties include shelving books and other materials; keeping bookshelves in order; and other duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Minimum educational requirements are: high school diploma/equivalent or currently attending high school. Must be flexible and adaptable. Must possess the ability to work well with staff and patrons. Good verbal communication skills are important. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Technology Page – Part-time – Hours Varied
TECHNOLOGY PAGE: The Public Libraries of Saginaw is accepting applications for technology pages to provide patrons with basic computer assistance and to provide routine printer and PC maintenance under supervision.
Duties and responsibilities: Assisting patrons with computer basics including such processes as setting margins, double spacing, pagination, etc.; instructing patrons on basic use of online databases; assisting patrons with Internet searches; providing routine maintenance for printers and other hardware including cleaning computers and printers, stocking printers, copy machines, and microfilm reader/printers with paper, replacing cartridges and ribbons, assisting patrons with printer problems; and other duties as assigned.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Computer knowledge including skill in Windows 7, Windows XP and Vista operating systems, Microsoft Office 2007 applications including Outlook Email, and extensive Internet experience. Mechanical and mathematical aptitude required. Familiarity with inkjet, laser and bubble jet printers. The ability to work well with staff and patrons and good verbal communication skills are essential. Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.
Minimum education and experience: Computer experience required. Minimum high school graduate/equivalent or current high school student.
