Government Resources
The Hoyt Main Library is a federal and Michigan government document
depository library and has been one since 1890. The library has many
older titles, which come in all different formats (books, magazines,
microfiche, etc.) can be found on Dynix, the library's online catalog

Magazine Articles and More
The Public Libraries of Saginaw purchases a variety of online databases
for the public to use, either in the library or from your home via
the web page. You must have a valid library card and live in the library's
service area to access some of the databases online. To see the database

Local History and Genealogical Collection
The Local History and Genealogical Collection includes many
unique resources on the history of Saginaw, the Saginaw Valley and
the people and families who settled the region. It also features extensive
genealogical resources from other parts of the country.
Saginaw Images
This distinctive database, developed by the Public Libraries of
Saginaw, contains digitized images of photographs, art works and historical
essays relating to Saginaw's unique and colorful past. Click

Dr. Richard D. Mudd's
Lincoln Collection
The Lincoln Collection includes books and other materials relating
to the Civil War, the Lincoln assassination, Abraham Lincoln and other
notables of the Lincoln era. It is the result of the extraordinary efforts
of Dr. Richard D. Mudd to prove the innocence of his grandfather, Dr.
Samuel A. Mudd
Online Obituary Index
Searchable database of Saginaw area obituaries from Saginaw papers,
1930's to present. The Online Obituary Index currently
contains over 125,000 records.
African
Heritage Collections
All branches have specially designated materials which are written
by African-American authors or about the African-American experience. Special
library programs and book lists help celebrate African-American History
Month
Hispanic
Heritage Collections
All branches have specially designated materials which are written
by Hispanic authors or about the Hispanic experience. Special programs
and book lists help celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Spanish
Language Materials
The librarian will be happy to assist you in obtaining books, cassettes, videos or other materials in Spanish.

Special Needs Services
ADA
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, with two
weeks advance notice, the Public Libraries of Saginaw will provide
necessary, reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with

Blind/Physically
Handicapped
The library has applications for service through the
Library of Michigan Services for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped. These include Braille materials and talking
books and magazines free of charge.
Books
By Mail
Anyone who is unable to come to the library because of
disability or long term illness can telephone the library
and have books mailed to them free of charge. Call 755-0904
for more information. You must live in the library's legal
service area to use this service. Our legal service area
includes the City of Saginaw, the City of Zilwaukee, and
Blumfield, Buena Vista, Carrollton, James, Kochville, Saginaw,
Tittabawasee and ZilwaukeeTownships.
Large
Print
Library print books are available in all our facilities. Butman-Fish,
Hoyt and Zauel Libraries have equipment to enlarge print. (See Vision
Impaired Services below.)
Talking
Books
The library has a collection of books on cassette and
CD. The library has applications for service through the
Library of Michigan Services for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped. These include receiving Braille materials and
talking books and magazines free of charge.
T.D.D./T.T.Y.
The Hoyt Main Library has a T.T.D. which the public can use. Staff
will be glad to answer questions via T.D.D. Call 989-755-9831.

Other Services
Copiers
All branches have photocopiers for the public to use. Copies cost $0.15
each.
Fax
All branches have telefax (fax) services for the public. Costs are
$3.00 per page to send and $2.50 per page to receive.
Meeting Rooms
Butman-Fish, Hoyt and Zauel Libraries have rooms which may be used
for public meetings, subject to availability. Groups must meet eligibility
requirements and submit a Meeting Room Use Application for approval.
Microform Reader Printers
The equipment for reading microfilm and microfiche is available at
the Hoyt Main Library. Printer copies cost $0.10.
Typewriters
Hoyt and Zauel Libraries have typewriters for the public to use.
