The Public Libraries of Saginaw has partnered with the Michigan Small Business Development Center to offer a free seminar for aspiring business owners.  This seminar helps new entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and manage a company, and introduces them to tools to evaluate market and sales potential for their products and services.

Grant Resources

Foundation Center

The Hoyt Public Library is a Funding Information Network partner of the Foundation Center. ( ). As a partner of this nationwide network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit agencies, the Hoyt Public Library provides visitors with free public access to grantmaker directories, books on fundraising and nonprofit management, and the Foundation Center’s electronic database, Foundation Directory Online. The fully searchable database includes detailed profiles of all active U.S. foundations, as well as an extensive file of recent grants awarded by the nation’s top funders.

Historical Detroit Free Press (1831-1922)

The Detroit Free Press is a rich source of genealogical and local history information. It covers the period before statehood, the American Civil War, and the growth of the mining, lumber and automotive industries. The information contained within the scanned and searchable pages is not limited to just Detroit area news. Researchers can find local news stories and family information for towns located throughout Michigan.
