Tips for Parents
Here are a few tips to remember regarding the Internet
- Be Proactive: Learn how to use the Internet. Don't be intimidated by this technology. Take a free class at the library. You'll understand so much more and will be able to communicate about it with your child.
- Personal Information: Tell your child to never give our personal information on the Internet. Explain what could happen if it fell into the wrong hands.
- Be Supportive: Ask your child to show you their favorite websites. Compliment them on the good choices. Discuss concerns with them on any questionable material. Believe it or not, children do not always see the things that catch our eye.
- Learn from your Children: Ask your child to show you a new technology that you don't know about. They will love the fact that they can teach you something and you'll be keeping up with what is happening out there in technology.
- Use Safe Passwords: Use high security passwords like a sentence with a mix of letters, numbers, or characters. Don't use your pets name, street address, or something that would be easy to guess.
